In addition to my 45 year affair with clay, I also love fabrics and fiber art. I have made many fiber art “dolls” with ceramic masks and incorporating other ceramic elements, such as having the doll ride in a ceramic boat or ride on a ceramic steed. I also love found wood pieces. Often the finishes of my ceramic sculptures are partly fired ceramic engobes, stains and glaze and partly paint or patina. The trick is to make the paint look like it belongs on the ceramics. I love it when I come back later and can’t remember which part of the surface was fired and which was painted!
